Pediatrics in Review Online SUBSCRIBER HELP & SERVICES:
Frequently Asked Questions
about Institutional Subscriptions

  1. My institution has a subscription to Pediatrics in Review and access to Pediatrics in Review Online, but I'm not able to see the full text of articles. I'm prompted for a username and password. Why is this happening?

When this happens, the IP address for your machine is not being recognized by our computer. This failure is caused by one of four things:

    1) Your institutional subscription has not yet been activated,
    2) The person who activated the online subscription did not enter all the needed IP addresses for your institution,
    3) The person who activated the online subscription does not realize that some subnets of your institution are routed through a proxy server, or
    4) Your institution subscribes at the limited access level and uses a username and password for each of the three designated workstations. These usernames and passwords are set by the librarian administering the subscription.

    What should I do?

    1. Talk to your librarian and let them know you are having trouble.
    2. Send us Feedback so we can begin to diagnose the problem.

  2. My library subscribes to the print Pediatrics in Review but I can't access the online version. Why?

Your institution has not yet activated its online subscription to Pediatrics in Review. All subscribers to the print edition also receive access to the online journal. Notify your library that you would like online access to Pediatrics in Review and encourage your librarian to activate the online subscription.

  3. Who from my institution can access Pediatrics in Review?

This depends on what level of access your institution has purchased.

    Site License
An institutional site license allows for unrestricted internet access at one location. Any user connecting from an authorized computer from your institutional network can access Pediatrics in Review. This includes remote access through your institution's network.

    Limited Access
A limited access subscription allows for access at three dedicated workstations in the library. Access is granted through static IP addresses for these workstations, or via usernames and passwords to be used at these three workstations.

Please check with your librarian to find out which level of access is available through your institution.

  4. Can I use the CME features as an Institutional Subscriber?

The continuing medical education (CME) features of Pediatrics in Review are only available to Individual Subscribers due to the extensive customization of this feature and its individualized nature.

  5. What is defined as an Institution?

For the most part, an Institutional Subscription authorizes use at a localized site. A "site" for Pediatrics in Review is an organizational unit, and may be academic or nonacademic. For organizations located in more than one city, each city office is considered a different site. For organizations within the same city that are administered independently, each office is considered a different site.

For example, each campus in the State University of New York system is considered a different site, and each branch or office of UpJohn Laboratories is considered a different site.

  6. What subscription packages are available?

    Individual Subscribers have access to:
Tables of contents, abstracts, full text searching, full text display, document delivery, PDFs, links to Medline, future tables of contents, and online CME quizzes. Individual subscribers also have the advantage of having password online access to Pediatrics in Review from any computer connected to the Internet.

  7. How can I tell if my institution has online access to Pediatrics in Review?

If your institution has a print subscription, you'll automatically have access to the tables of contents, abstracts, full-text searching, full text display, PDFs, Medline links, and future tables of contents at either the site license or limited access level. Check with your librarian to see which level of access your institution has purchased. You'll also see a button at the top of the page confirming that you are signed in as part of an institution.

If your institution has not subscribed, please talk to your librarian about purchasing an institutional subscription. Or, if you wish to take advantage of the additional services available to individual subscribers, you may purchase an individual subscription.

  8. Can my institution just subscribe to the online version?

Yes, institutions may purchase a subscription for the site only. View the cost details under institutional subscriptions.

  9. If our Pediatrics in Review Online subscription expires, what will we have access to?

If your Pediatrics in Review subscription lapses, you will have full access only to the year(s) you purchased.

  10. How can I access Pediatrics in Review Online if I don't have access through an institutional subscription?

You may purchase a subscription to Pediatrics in Review online as an individual subscription. Additionally, you can buy a site pass for 48 hours at a cost of $45, buy access to a single issue for 48 hours at a cost of $25, or view an article online for 48 hours at a cost of $12. Please note that the site pass does not include access to the e-Archive. Without a subscription you have access to the Table of Contents, abstracts, and full text searching (but not full text viewing) at no cost and without having to register.
