An Introduction to the Pediatrics in Review Online CME System
The online version of Pediatrics in Review includes an online continuing medical education (CME) component, available only to subscribers. Using this system, subscribers can:
- Take the quizzes in the journal online;
- Receive instant feedback on their selected answers;
- Jump to the sections of the source article containing the preferred responses;
- Submit completed issues for CME credit, and receive confirmation of credit immediately via email;
- Transfer answers from completed CME forms directly into the system via our Rapid CME system;
- Review the credit they've earned via Pediatrics in Review Online via an individualized CME Summary Report.
Important Notes:
- An entire issue must be completed before subscribers can submit quizzes for credit. There is no article-by-article credit.
- This service is only available to subscribers. If you wish to subscribe, please click here.
- Users will only have access for those years in which they had a subscription.
The Benefits of the Pediatrics in Review Online CME System
Before the advent of Pediatrics in Review Online, CME answer sheets were returned by subscribers for credit at the end of each subscription year. Now, subscribers have another option: they can complete the quiz online for any issue in the current year at any time, and receive confirmation of credit immediately. They can also transfer their answers from their CME answer sheets directly into the system using our Rapid CME feature. This allows readers to beat the December 31 CME deadlines.
The benefits of the online system include:
- Instant feedback on the answers provided, with links to the places in the text where the preferred answer exists;
- A CME Summary page, containing the records of the issues submitted for credit, ongoing quizzes, and credits earned;
- Immediate email confirmation of credit earned;
- The ability to complete one issue at a time, as the year progresses, and submit and receive credit confirmation issue-by-issue.
In addition, each month's issue becomes available online throughout the world, without the delays that postal delivery can impose.
We invite you to provide any feedback on this system, to help us enhance it for our subscribers.
Using the Traditional Pediatrics in Review CME Program
If you are using the paper journal exclusively, and wish to submit for CME credit, please use the Pediatrics in Review Quiz Card (bound into the January issue) to record your answers. Each question has a single best answer. The answers to the questions appear on the inside front cover of each issue.
Expiration of Credit: Credit for completing the Pediatrics in Review quizzes will be awarded for up to 3 years. Credits will be posted to the year in which they are submitted.
Verifications of Credit: You will receive an automatic e-mail message verifying the CME credit you have earned through Pediatrics in Review. Credits will be posted for AAP members to view and print out online via http://www.pedialink.org. Nonmembers or non-PediaLink subscribers will be mailed a certificate of completion.
CME Credit Deadlines
Pediatrics in Review Quiz Card
If you need to earn CME credit for the Pediatrics in Review quizzes in a particular calendar year, you must complete each quiz before January 31 of the following year. You may earn up to 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for each print issue completed. You do not need to complete all of the issues in order to earn CME credit; you will be given credit only for those issues you choose to complete.
If you are taking the quizzes using the print version of the journal, complete each quiz, fill in the appropriate section on the PIR Quiz Card (included with your January issue), and return it to the PREP Office. To be posted to a particular year's transcript, your Quiz Card must be received in the PREP Office by January 31 of the following year.
Please note that the January 31 deadline was established to ensure that subscribers have enough time to submit quizzes completed in the previous year. This will help to ensure that your CME credit is recorded accurately.
Pediatrics in Review Online
