Inadvertently, in our comprehensive review of Rifampin Prophylaxis in Pediatrics in Review September 1992, page 394, the requirement that rifampin be administered to the index patient during hospitalization just before discharge was omitted. Please note this in your thinking when you approach a situation involving a Haemophilus influenza type B infection. We regret this omission.
