DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS
Dr Laurence Finberg points out that, in the article on fluid and electrolyte metabolism, "Dehydration in Infancy: Hospital Treatment," published in the November 1989 issue of Pediatrics in Review, there is an error in the middle of the second column on page 140. The 10% glucose solution does not have a concentration of 125 mg/L but in weight terms would be 22.5 g/L, which would correspond to approximately 125 mmol/L. The second solution mentioned, which was attributed to Dr Finberg (although the method of making it was never recommended by him), has a concentration of 100 g of glucose/L, which corresponds to 555 mmol/L. Clearly, the error was in using milligrams instead of millimoles.
